Excellent! Passes Lindos Grade B (apart from level out) using the Lindos MFX1 adaptor which plugs into the Mic input to provide a 'Unison' input socket (D-type connector) with appropriate input attenuation and low-frequency response equalisation to optimise the FX1 audio performance and allow balanced or single-ended inputs to be used from mic preamps/mixers. The Minisonic MS1/MS10/MS20 units are ideal for use with this adaptor, providing gain-control and PPPM metering from line inputs or a pair of Lindos MM3 miniature microphones for very high quality music recording, or lapel mic pickup of discussions.
These tests were done with Input Level setting '4' on the camcorder, with 'line in' set in the menu and manual level selected. Note the huge improvement in low-frequency response when compared to the uncorrected results (see other test sheet). A fast compressor operates in the FX1 above a level corresponding to about three-quarters full on the level bar-graph readout. The MVX1 gain has been chosen to allow 18dB of headroom without this compressor operating, as higher levels are only recorded on brief bursts. |
