Rather limited dynamic range and no line in or level control. Input was set to -7dB which gives 0dBu (actually -6dBu single ended). Max level out before limiting is only +5dB and noise level -38dB. Compare this with true 16-bit values of +18dB max and -68dB noise!
There appears to be a frequency response difference between the channels. The right channel is optimally compensated for bass rolloff by the adaptor, but the left channel falls off. Without the compesating adaptor the bass rolloff is more severe.
Don't be fooled by the apparent low distortion at +8dB. Automatic gain control (fast attack fast decay) comes in at +5dB out and will produce a choppy sound on real signals. |
