VM1 Video Mics
The video mic uses two of the same mic capsules as the 1/4" mic included with the MiniSonic Mic Kit, but on telescopic stalks out in front of the camera (which greatly reduce motor and focus noise). The collapsible design allows the mics to fit neatly into a camera bag or the box that comes with the kit. The video mic also comes with a pair of very effective windshields (far better than low-pass filtering). It can be regarded as an optional addition to the MiniSonic Mic Kit or just purchased with a preamp.
Using our experise in audio measurement we have evaluated the most popular DSLR cameras (5D mkII, 550D, 60D, GH2...) and designed adapters to not only attenuate optimally (minimising the noise added by the camera's internal mic preamp), but crucially to equalise the bass response of each camera's mic input (because they all roll off badly). Just adding the appropriate adapter to your camera turns it into a serious audio recording device that can be fed not just from our mic preamp, but from any line level source.
Recording sound to the camera simplifies the editing process and often the results out-perform those achieved with popular audio recorders.
Headphone monitoring is available as a optional extra for all camera adapters.
The preamp has a 1/4" UNC mounting point. Using this with a supplied hot shoe adapter allows the preamp to sit on top of a camcorder or HDSLR.
